    Default Invalid Master Category ID

I have made a new Product type, it is called "Product - Dvd" however when ever i goto add a new product on this one Product type i get the yellow box.

I have tried adding a normal product type to that same category and it works without a problem, however when ever i goto add the product type "Product - Dvd" it comes up with the yellow box that say's "Invalid Master Category ID".

I have read a few other topics and cant seem to fix the problem, any ideas ?

it sounds like the product's master_categories_id isn't being set during the insert process.
When you insert a new product_dvd, check the products_table in the database and see if there has been a value inserted for master_categories_id
If not, you may have a problem in the modules/product_dvd/update_product.php file

Could there be a file that i am missing ?

I have it uploaded on the site and it is working fine there, however it dosnt work on my database that is locally run. The only difference between the two stores is the version number.

Could you let us know if you ever found the problem? I have a similar situation, only it's on the production server that the Master Category ID claims to be invalid (on the Product edit page). The db shows the product has a valid category (checked the categories table to be sure it's a valid one).

What version of Zen Cart are you using?

    Clean install or an upgrade?

If an upgrade ... what version did you upgrade from?

How are you adding your products?

If importing, most likely the master_categories_id is not being set ...

If you DO NOT have Linked Products, this is easily fixed ...

If you DO have Linked Products, then this can be a little harder to fix ...

    Zen Cart 1.3.0.2
    Database Patch Level: 1.3.0.2

    Clean install or an upgrade?
    Fresh installation

How are you adding your products?
    Normal way in Admin->Categories/Products

If you DO NOT have Linked Products, this is easily fixed ...
No products are linked (haven't even tried to do that yet).

Did install a Product Type (Book), which may be contributing to the problem. Think I want to uninstall it and install a newer/better version from another source, that I found here in Forums (why isn't it on the downloads page? and why is the old one that's no good still there?). But not sure how to do that, either. Topic for another thread, I guess... (Sure would be nice if creating Product Types weren't so difficult. What we actually need is for cars (year, mileage), so I had to adapt from the Book product type.)

    Thanks,

Does this just happen on the Add but look fine on the Edit?
