Custom checkout

I am in the process of creating a java applet that would allow people to create their own product. Once they are done I would need to send the data from the java to the php checkout. Is this going to be hard to do? Is it possible? I am not knowledgeable with php at all but guess I will need to learn some. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need to get your information from java to php by posting the variables to the server. What kind of products are you creating? Will they be selecting attributes and options? If so, then you should simply be able to send the data back to the server, and add the products to the cart.

Nothing too exciting.. Dog collars. I am curious, how would I get these variables to the server, store them to a file? Mainly this applet will be a drag and drop scenario where, someone will choose the collar and the parts. The applet will then send the info to the cart for checkout. I just don't know how I could tie my java info to the php checkout code.
