    Track Downloads

    Hello All,
I have just begun using downloads and allow 2 downloads in a 7 day period. I would like to be able to check an order to see if the customer has downloaded the product yet but don't see how this can be done. I did see a post by Linda in the Archive but don't see the icon she refrenced in her post.
If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it. I want to be sure the customer had no trouble without having to contact them and ask.
    Thanks,
    Cliff

If you hit the order ... then click edit ...

You will see the: Order Download Status table ...

This is telling you how many days and attempts are available ...

This will increment the number available as they are downloaded

The Green icon next to the Filename means it is still available to the customer

The Yellow icon next to the Filename means it is not available because it expired on days or maximum downloads ...

The actual counts live in the orders_products_download table of the database ...

    Re: Track Downloads

Having problems with customers getting incomplete downloads from our store. I have tested the downloads in question, and sometimes they download completely....sometimes they don't. Could this be a problem with the store itself? Has anyone else ever had this problem? HELP....

    unix or windows server?

    what size files?

Do small files work and large fail?

Are you using spaces or special characters in the filename?

    Are the files Zipped?

It sounds to me like your large files are having an issue ... check with your hosting site about limits ...

or that you cannot use the Redirect if on unix, because your hosting site does not have you configured to understand the symbolic links in the .htaccess file ...

or that you are on a windows server with Redirect on and windows servers cannot use that setting it must be off ...

    Unix
This is a typical filename "BBV1_8x10_PSD", "ED", or "PSD"
All Files are contained in a zipped folder.
File size varies from 1mb to 250mb depending on the graphic purchased.
Web hosting has recently updated to PHPSuexec
They have assured me that nothing is wrong on their side. They said that it could be they customer's problem maybe with there router or IE settings.

    Driving me crazy!

    Thanks for your help!

Are you, personally, able to download via your site both the 1mb to 250mb files?

Test this now, if you have not done so in the last hour ...

If either fails, turn off the Redirect ... can you now download both the small 1mb and large 250mb files?

Check with your hosting site about limits if the only issue is the large files when Redirect is on ...

Redirect on is the preferable setting, however, you may not be able to use it with your hosting site unless they alter your server settings ...

If, even with Redirect OFF, you cannot download the large files ... then you definitely need to talk to your hosting site about the server settings ...

NOTE: 250mb is monsterous for downloads ... consider breaking up the peices and parts into smaller components as it would really be bad to get to 227mb or the 250mb download and have the download croak on a connection issue ... you will need to see how it goes with your customers on those monsters ...

That is what is so weird. Sometimes I can download the files with no problem. Come back the next day and have an incomplete download on the same file.

Have the same problem on files from 1mb -250mb.

I forgot to mention that when a customer chooses the run or open option instead of save, they receive the full download.

I turned the redirect off, and tested everything works fine..... for now.
Should I use the download by streaming option?

Let's try leaving streaming on for now and see if the Redirect OFF makes a difference or not rather than change multiple issues here ...

In theory the streaming should help you rather than hurt you ...

Hello and thanks for the reply. I have attached a PDF (zipped to meet the size requirements) showing the screen I get when looking at the order. What am I missing? I don't see the table you mentioned.
    Thanks again for your help.

Your Product is acting as if you never added the download filename to the attribute itself so it is just an Attribute with no filename associated with it ...

First ... check the Attributes for that product ...

Do you see a green dot next to the filename?

Do you have any add-ons in your Admin?
