Hi,

A customer sent me money via paypal outside of the shopping cart. She wants me to apply it as a credit to her cart account. What's the best way to do this?

All I can think of right now is to create a gift certificate on the account. Can a balance be added directly though?

In admin->Gift Certificates/Coupons, you can mail her a gift certificate for the indicated amount. When she redeems the certificate, those funds will be available for her to user on her purchases.

Zen Cart does not manage customer accounts in terms of tracking amounts owed and credits available, as it is not an accounting system.

You could write a number of customizations to track this sort of thing if it was something you would be using on a frequent basis.
