Would like to click on thumnail & a pop up comes up with bigger image please

    Good Evening,

I have just got zencart on my website and had a couple of questions. I will be selling standard and custom certificates and digital art, some of them I will want to be available for immediate download. These are approx 2.3MB - 4MB each, and some come in a set of four. I wanted a thumbnail image in the product description, then I want to be able to click on the thumbnail, and a bigger picture comes up in a pop up box. so customers can see the detail? How do I go about this if it is possible?

I did try and upload one of the certificates unzipped to the shopping cart and when I published my website it too ages, am I doing something wrong?

Any other tips for adding products that will be sent electronically automatically after payment has been made?

    Thank you for your time
    Kind Regards
    Nikki

P.S I am new at publishing web sites, so go easy on me please

If I understand your want correctly:

You have files(art/pics and certificate templates) that are large files.

First off, you shouldn't put up an image that is too detailed(large), one to prevent someone from copying this image without buying it and secondly as you have determined it makes viewing slooow.

ZenCart has as a default, 3 image sizes that it will work with automatically. And these can be adjusted for size/ratio in the admin > config > images

    Normal, medium, and large.

I suggest you use a thumbnailer like easythumbnails or another to create the three sizes and at minimal resolution or just enough to see clearly at the individual size.

Normal images are installed when you set the product up as the image upload and are normally 1.5-4k, medium images are appended with the suffix _MED and are 4-6k, the large are appended with the suffix _LRG and a good size is in the 400-500 px range.

_MED & _LRG images are FTP'd to your host and placed in the /images/medium and /images/large folders. These folders exist already.

Then when a shopper views a product the _MED image is displayed with the "view larger image" text below it and the large image is loaded when clicked.

You might also consider watermarking your images.

You can also search this site for 'image' or 'image size' for additional detail on this as there are several excellent guides available. You can also look in the wiki.
