    Thanks for letting me know. I asked because I could not find out how to change the wording of the order status from "delivered" or "processed" to "shipped" and also how to change the same wording in the order status change email notifications.

    Is there a way to turn off the email notifications for order status changes altogether?

    Please let me know if there is a thread that explains this.

    Admin > Localization > Orders Status > edit - will let you change the wording from Delivered to Shipped. Every time you update an order, you can uncheck the checkbox to send it to the customer (I know, not so convenient if you want that to be the default).
