    Default Separate Category groups?

    Hello,

I am working on a new store and the client wants to setup two separate groups of categories.

It's another jewelry store and the client wants the customer to be able to shop from by general product categories or to shop by style.

This is only my second store so I am still learning :)

ANy help, or ideas on what is the best way to do this would be great.

    JEWELRY LINES
"Simplicity", "Galaxy," "Ancient", "Lightspeed" and "Burton"

    CATEGORIES
"Rings" "Necklaces" "Bracelets" "Pendants" and "Earrings"

errr wait, I just throught about something. I can just use Categories and subcategories. Would this be my best option?

    Default Re: Separate Category groups?

An alternative approach is to re-use the manufacturers field. I did this for a client who had "collections". It is easy to change almost all instances of the word manufacturer (and certainly all that customers can see) to anything that you want.

The only drawbacks are that you lose the manufacturers field, and that products can only belong to one "collection" or "style".
