what company does this work for? fast way is a franchise and have curiers all over the world
Hello Fastway Couriers users (and/or potential users - ex-Sydney, Australia)!
I've been operating a new store for a few months now and successfully using the Fastway Couriers shipping module with the following exceptions:
1. Default rates per destination are ex-Brisbane based.
2. After spending a day or two I managed, semi-automatically/manually, converting the existing SQL in Excel to provide significantly more accurate shipping rates ex-Sydney.
3. My conversions were mostly, but not totally accurate. At the least I wasn't getting 'Same Day' deliveries to Brisbane and Next Day deliveries to Sydney!!!
Still, this was not good enough. Well, after a few months trying to obtain the Fastway Transhipment Schedule ex-Sydney from Fastway, in electronic form, I have finally succeeded.
I have now spent another good day converting their Excel spreadsheets into an SQL ready worksheet to replace the existing Fastway rates table.
I am no PHP programmer, although I can sort of tell what is going on in the code. The code still needs enhancement and I glady invite someone knowledgeable to tackle it. From what I can tell, 'Satchels' are not supported and all rates are based on Post Code only i.e., I don't believe the Suburb has any bearing on the calculations.
If I'm permitted, I will post the revised SQL for ex-Sydney deliveries for people to test if anyone is interested. Can someone with Authority advise if I can do this?
The rates I've used are valid as at 29 May 2007 EX-SYDNEY.
For those of you operating out of other Australian states, I can also provide my working Excel spreadsheets that I've used to convert Fastway's Excel based transhipment schedule, for your own use, if anyone is interested.
I'm sure there are lots of you out there using various clumsly workarounds, but personally, if the shipping can't be calculated automatically or if you're forced to provide mean average flat rate shipping, then this isn't good enough. I'm hoping that I might spark a renewed interest in this module and maybe we can get it updated and enhanced where possible.
Cheers
GAM
Further to the above, here's a link to the revised SQL text file.
WARNING: This is only marginally tested on my own store... so far no issues, however I take no responsibility and offer no guarantee whatsoever.

Hi Everyone,
I need this shipping module but i'm getting errors when i tried to convert it from oscommerce.
I will appreciate if anyone can send me the download link.
Thanks :)
Hi mdc
The link that I used is posted earlier in this thread... repeated for convenience: http://www.ozetrade.net/mods/fastsway_v1.0.1.zip
I've made minor changes to mine version but from memory only related to language type stuff in addition to the revised SQL for Sydney based accounts, posted above.
Cheers

Hi again mdc (and Digiscape if you look here)
Sorry the link above appears to be down. I could email the files to you if you like... please send PM with email address.
Note that the original SQL files are for Brisbane originating. The SQL I posted earlier is for Sydney and includes significantly more postcodes and has proven to be very accurate since posting... still running it now with no problems.
Cheers

I have this module working well for New Zealand if required.

Fred
Anyone have a link for the download? Other links seem to be down.
I just tested the links and the link in message "6th September 2007, 12:35 PM" by GAM works fine. However the link in the next message "6th February 2008, 04:38 PM" by GAM doesn't.
