    FYI

The first link (broken) is to the original source of the Fastway Module (ported to Zen Cart by OzeTrade). The second link is to the updated SQL tables ex-Sydney, Australia that I generated and continue to provide.

(Note, the SQL included with the original Fastway module was ex-Brisbane and is probably out of date now or at least is not an exhaustive list of destination suburbs/post codes.)

Here's the old Fastways Shipping mod (ported to Zen Cart by OzeTrade) if anyone needs it.

    Hi all,

I too would like to use this fastway module. Thankyou for designing it! My business operates from Brisbane. Away suggestions as to which module version to use - does the original need prices and post code updating? Should I work from (modify) the Brisbane based version or the ex-Sydney version. Also, I have some ~65kg units which I know Fastways can't ship, but I'd still like to be able to give a shipping quote - is that possible? I.e. I want the customer to be able to purchase the unit and shipping without having to contact me :)

    Cheers,
    Blue

All the listed download links for this module appear to be broken - help please?

I've been operating a new store for a few months now and successfully using the Fastway Couriers shipping module with the following exceptions:

    1. Default rates per destination are ex-Brisbane based.
    2. After spending a day or two I managed, semi-automatically/manually, converting the existing SQL in Excel to provide significantly more accurate shipping rates ex-Sydney.
    3. My conversions were mostly, but not totally accurate. At the least I wasn't getting 'Same Day' deliveries to Brisbane and Next Day deliveries to Sydney!!!

Still, this was not good enough. Well, after a few months trying to obtain the Fastway Transhipment Schedule ex-Sydney from Fastway, in electronic form, I have finally succeeded.

I have now spent another good day converting their Excel spreadsheets into an SQL ready worksheet to replace the existing Fastway rates table.

I am no PHP programmer, although I can sort of tell what is going on in the code. The code still needs enhancement and I glady invite someone knowledgeable to tackle it. From what I can tell, 'Satchels' are not supported and all rates are based on Post Code only i.e., I don't believe the Suburb has any bearing on the calculations.

If I'm permitted, I will post the revised SQL for ex-Sydney deliveries for people to test if anyone is interested. Can someone with Authority advise if I can do this?

The rates I've used are valid as at 29 May 2007 EX-SYDNEY.

For those of you operating out of other Australian states, I can also provide my working Excel spreadsheets that I've used to convert Fastway's Excel based transhipment schedule, for your own use, if anyone is interested.

I'm sure there are lots of you out there using various clumsly workarounds, but personally, if the shipping can't be calculated automatically or if you're forced to provide mean average flat rate shipping, then this isn't good enough. I'm hoping that I might spark a renewed interest in this module and maybe we can get it updated and enhanced where possible.

    Cheers
    GAM

I am interested in the Ex Brisbane updated ones, as the values are all wrong at present and would appreciate a heads up on how to update the rates etc.

    Thanks MarkNew.

I have installed the module but when I try to put in some random postcodes it returns no shipping estimate at all

(I'm based in Brisbane by the way, using the old module)

I'm still having problems with the module. When I put random postcodes (with correct corresponding states) in the shipping estimate screen I get the same cost and delivery time (next day) for all destinations...

    Help anyone?

Ok, silly me - I didn't enter the zone rates. All working now but there seems no way to enter zone 5 rates (Outback zone)... suggestions anyone?

    Cheers,
    Sam

It seems the original authors didn't bother with Zone 5 rates (probably because they're too expensive and not used by most). Possibly that zone didn't exist when the module was first created.

Regardless, I don't use them because they're too expensive and are happy not to offer them.

If you really wanted, you would need to go through the code and make the necessary updates to add Zone 5 rates in.

    Cheers
