Cannot forward valid Gift Certificate

Each time a user which has purchased a gift certificate wishes to email the certificate from the our cart it fails. the user can get to the gv_send page, enters the correct information including the amount to send - (valid email address) then presses send. Almost immediately the "whoops your session has timed out" (main_page=time out?) and the sending of the certificate fails. No errors anywhere in the Apache logs , just the following: "POST /index.php?main_page=gv_send&action=send.......

All the other email functions work correctly - on order placement, order management as well as the contact us. So has anyone seen this one?

Hope it is a simple misconfig somewhere I don't see.

What version are you using? What are your sessions settings in the Admin> Configuration> Sessions?
