Counter History

Can someone explain the counter history for me? What do the 2 numbers mean when it says 4-40 for that day??? Does it mean 4 people have visited the site or 40? I'm so confused!

4 40 means ...

4 unique visits or sessions as in first hit occured ...

40 pages were viewed by these 4 unique visits or sessions ...

This displays the last 10 days ...

The data recorded continues until you delete that information ... so you could actually create a report to see the information over different time periods ...

You will only get:

1 record forever in the counter table ...

356 records a year in the counter_history table ...

Based on the small size and being able to review this data over time, it might behoove you to maintain it so you can see the growth or visit pattern/changes of your site ...

Otherwise, you could empty the counter_history table via phpMyAdmin ...

The Count can be changed in the counter table via your Admin ... Tools ... Store Manager ... where you can reset the count value ...

The numbers in zen don't match up to the number of hits in google analytics, webalizer, or awstats.

In fact each has something different :shocking:

The unique hits in zen are a lot (40 times higher in one case) than awstats and others.

Are you sure they are recording "unique" hits?

The unique hits are only as unique as the session ...

If a person comes to the site 3 times over the day with new sessions that will be 3 hits for the unique hits per day ...

If you want exact, precise counts ... AWStats and other programs like it were designed for this purpost ...

Zen Cart is giving you an approximate on activity of your shop based on sessions ... however, there is not a true tracking to your site ...

Zen Cart is a Shopping Cart ... not a web site analysis program ... :smile:

Ahhhh... got it. Thanks for the explanation.

soooo... you say zencart is a shopping cart program, that explains why I can't get all the pie charts and bar graphs to work... :smartass:
