New, Featured, & Special Products Layout

Ok, I know this is a really beginner question, so I feel a little embarrased asking it . But where do I configure the product listing layout for the products that appear on the main page under new products, featured products, etc. I've configured the product listing under configuration -> product listing, but it doesn't seem to effect this. (?)

Depends a bit on what you want to do. Admin > Configuration > Index Listing gives you the high level stuff such as which sectons to display and in what order, as well as the number of products displayed per row. Admin > Configuration > MAximum Values adds some more options such as how many Featured Products (etc) to display on the main page.
