    Server Timing Out

    Hi,

I am experimenting with ZenCart for a client of mine on a test server on my private network.

I am trying to add sub-categories to a main category. I have 52 sub-categories (so far), but when I click on the main category from the home page, the server times out. I am able to click on the other categories and go to their pages. They have no sub-categories yet.

I'm running Apache 2.0.54, PHP 4.4.0, and MySQL 4.1.13 running on Windows XP SP1. I installed ZenCart 1.3.0.1 with no problems. I chose to go with the disk cache after trying an install with the database cache. I got the same result for the database cache for the disk cache.

I made sure that the cache folder is writable, but that didn't help.

I appreciate any help that can be given.

Idea or Suggestion Re: Server Timing Out

Ok, follow-up to my original post:

I began moving the sub-categories to a new category and it seems to be working. Is there a limit to the number of sub-categories that can be in categories?

Further information: for some reason, I am only allowed 30 sub categories before getting a server timeout message.

Any way around this or am I missing something that this shouldn't even be happening?

Idea or Suggestion Re: Server Timing Out

Ok, I believe I figured out the problem. ZenCart didn't like my version of PHP, so I switched to PHP 5.0.4.

    I would suggest 4.4.2 rather than 5.0

some folks have issues with it

    Linda,

I am having the same problem my self but I am running php5. It seems that there is a limit to the number of sub-categories. For me, when i click on a category, the results page is only drawing the very first part of the page. Then it seems to just quit. it even write a little bit of the php code then just stops. the code is the beginning of the table and it looks like this <TABLE width=990 he.

THis shows up only on this category, the rest work fine, even if i add new ones, they work fine. i even tried to change the template back to Classic Contemporary Green it returns a CGI Error that says:
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.
. i am running on a windows platform. here is a link to it http://63.134.211.132/catalog2. to see the brocken one, click on NotCR and to see one that works click on any other category. FYI, i am aware that some of the images are not uploaded yet.
