    Default Uk Store

Hi, It's been a while since I used Zen cart and all the little bits of knowledge I gained have gone. I have just installed version 1.0.3 (I think) and am having difficulty with changing the currency to GBP. I get the error " make sure this is a valid currency etc etc". The same message appears when I click update currencies for the USD also.
I have searched the forum and found nothing really, what happened to the old support site? and all the contributions? I'm gonna be needing the Uk counties and various other bits, are they still available?
    Thanks
    Pete

Thanks for that but I think a whole new template to solve a currency issue might be a bit overkill. I have fixed this issue before but for the life of me cannot get it this time. When I click update currencies i get the error message as above...anyone?

    Thanks

Adding/changing a currency is simple, unless I am missing the point of your post.

On version 1.3.0 or 1.2.7, etc.

Go to Admin > Localization > Currencies then add a New Currency. I use the following:

    Title: UK Sterling
    Code: GBP

    Symbol Left: £
    Symbol Right:

    Decimal Point: .
    Thousands Point: ,
    Decimal Places: 2

Set the value to 1 then check the Set as Default box then hit Insert. Once inserted click the Update Currencies, all done. From here you can either keep or remove the Euro and the US Dollar.

Yes, you're right...I know how to set the currencies but when I click "update currencies" I get an error at the top of the page saying:

Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for GBP (GBP) - trying the secondary exchange rate server.
Error: The exchange rate for GBP (GBP) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code?

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    As stated previously:

If the GBP is set to default with a value of 1 then what needs updating are the rates on Euro and the US$, for example. If you cannot update the currencies via oanda it may be a permissions problem on your server and there are posts on that issue elsewhere in the forum. Does your browser allow sub-navigation across domains, just a thought as it may be the settings in your browser. Good luck.
