    Default Back to home link

Where's the best place to add a "Back to home page" button/link on the main zen-cart page ?

    Thanks

If you are on the home page ... where would you be going to home?

    There already are the:

    1 footer home link

    2 breadcrumb home link

    3 the header home link

    4 the logo home link

I am not quite following what it is you wish to do ...

The default Zen Cart layout already has one at the top and one at the bottom. Whether those are the best locations or they would be better placed elsewhere depends on the design of your shop. There's no definitive answer.

Ahh. Now I understand. That is most easily added in Zen Cart 1.3+ as an EZ-Page with an external URL link (leave the big text box in the middle blank). You can then choose whether to display the link in the header, the footer, a sidebox or all three.

    Thanks, I'll look into it.

Also I have trouble using the link maker in the Define Pages Editor. Sometimes it lets me type in the box and other times it won't let me. what's wrong with that feature?

Make sure that you copied all files from:
    /includes/languages/english/html_includes

in to your templates and overrides directory:
    /includes/languages/english/html_includes/your_template_dir

And that the directory and files are all 777 if you want to edit them from the Admin ...

NOTE: each time you load these files via FTP the permissions change ...

I see. I made a folder called backup and I was going to put copies of the original files there for safe keeping is that OK?

Not really, because I suspect that this means you were planning to edit the files in their original locations. This means that you risk your changes being overwritten in future upgrades.

The approach that Ajeh (Linda) has suggested is much better. This way your changes are safe, and your original files are also safe, unless a better version comes in an upgrade.
