ez pages

I see this new ezpages and do not get it. I can create a page but it does not show up in the navigation any where. Anyone know where I can find info on this?

One of the best things that you can do for yourself is to make a test directory and a test database and create a test store, with no changes and load the demo data ...

Many of the questions on new features can be found just strolling through the Catalog and the Admin to see how things work ...

EZ-Pages needs to have marked where the link should appear as well as a sort order ... or they will not show on the site ...

Note: be sure that you have loaded the Zen Cart v1.3.0.1 upgrade to your site ... there are a couple issues that were fixed in this release

I just got mine to work.

1. make sure you have upgraded to the latest bug fix patch
2. go to Tools:EZ-Pages
3. create a page and make sure you put in some sort of order in the top boxes... for instance Open New Window (I chose no), Page is SSL (I chose no), Header (I chose no since I did not want it in the header), Sidebox (I chose yes and an order of 35), Footer and Chapter (I chose no to both)
4. click the update button
5. go to Tools:Layout Boxes Controller
6. make sure you turn on EZPages and choose the appropriate column settings for your site.

Now the EZ-pages should work!

Did all those steps an no links.

Things are not as intuitive as techies think they are. I've played around on a test site, new install for weeks to no avail.

Could you give an example of an EZ-Page you have tried to configure and the settings?

Do you have an URL to your site that we could peek at?

If v1.3 ... upgrade to v1.3.0.1 ...

Also, you appear to be missing language defines ...

What version did you upgrade from?

How did you do your upgrade?

NOTE: You do not appear to have your own template created ...

I took out the language box, if they don't speak english, oh well.

I upgraded from 1.2.2 I think. I was not worried about any lost template stuff and had no mods of importance. I just copy/pasted all the new files on my windows machine into my local dreamweaver site. THen I pushed them to the server and ran the install. It all worked fine for the most part.

I have made minimal changes to the default template, after the upgrade my old temp was broken so I just am starting that from scratch.

I did notice that in layout boxes controller the sort order keeps getting reset to -1. I've changed it 3 times now in the ez pages editor and the layout controller but it goes back to -1.

Are you running v1.3 or v1.3.0.1 ...

You should never touch any files in the core ... that is what the template and overrides system is for ...

When you touch files that should be overridden ...

1 we cannot test anything as we do not know what you touched

2 those changes will be wiped out on an upgrade

I am not sure if you can change the sidebox settings at the moment, as you do not have a true template system so the sideboxes are not truely being controlled right ...

I would stop ... and setup a template and overrides system now ...

I am assuming you are working on a copy of your Live site and not on your real Live site ... right?

I didn't touch any core files. I'm not sure what you mean.

How am I not using a true template? I have a template_custom directory and the 3 files I want to override are in there. That's how the header doesn't say zencart.

1. I touched nothing.
2. What changes? the upgrade wiped out any supposed changes I made. I didn't want to save any changes.

I can get the ezpages to appear in the footer just fine. But something is making the layout controller say -1 when I hit reset even though the ezpage is set to sort at 5.

Yes it's my live site. LIke I said, all i cared about saving was the database. I needed and wanted a new look to the store.
