Doe anyone know how to stop the weights displaying on the product listings and in the shopping cart?
In the admin, I have changed the
"product listing>display product weight", and
"shipping/packing>Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status",
but the weight still displays!!!

I know how to change it for the product listings now!
But I still don't know how to stop the total weight appearing in the shopping cart.

I may be having the same problem - none of the settings in Configuration > Product Listing appear to make any difference at all, however settings in Configuration > All Listing etc work fine.
End result is that I can't customise the category based views.

Slight modification to the above - I can change it through the Product Types > Edit Layout options, but that leaves me wondering still where the product listing optins are used as they are overidden by the product types settings...

Weight has many settings as this can be shown in numerous locations ...
Under Configuration:
Shipping/Packaging ...
Layout Settings ...Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status
Display Shipping Weight and Number of Boxes?
0= off
1= Boxes Only
2= Weight Only
3= Both Boxes and Weight
Product Listing ...Shopping Cart - Show Totals
Show Totals Above Shopping Cart?
0= off
1= on: Items Weight Amount
2= on: Items Weight Amount, but no weight when 0
3= on: Items Amount
New Products ...
Featured Products ...
All Products ...
Under Catalog ... Product Types ...
Select a Product type ...
Hit EDIT LAYOUT not the EDIT button ...
Change the setting for weight ...Linda McGrath
