    Default Disabling Order Number

    s there a way to disable the order number, (like, this is the tird order from your store)
    At least prevent the buyer from seeing these order numbers?

    No, you can not disable the order numbers, but you can change it to be a higher number.

    Open your Admin> Tools> Store Manager and follow the instructions. Make sure you have a good back up before changing anything.

    You need to have order numbers for the IRS and bookkeeping.

    If we can't disable it, would it be possible, in the future, to simply change the prefix name of the order number rather than simply setting a higher number ?

    Oracle- the number is auto incrementing- if you want another type of number you will need to code another field.
