Shipping to only certain zip codes

For your situation it looks like postcode provides overkill as far as resolution goes. You should be able to use the zones and have the delivery option only available to the states you deliver to without contacting the customer. To use the postcode module you would need to input every postcode that falls inside the area you deliver to which could be a longer list than the database will accept.

My situation is a bit more complex than I originally presented. I will be doing it by zipcodes for many places, and states for others. For example, delivery to Metro NY costs more than delivery to the rest of the state, so NY will be split up by zip code. But delivery to all of Connecticut is the same price, so that can be done by state. And we don't deliver to anywhere outside of the Northeast. THe client is supposed to give me a CSV file of the zipcode groupings, so I was hoping to use that to input the codes.

I looked into the Zones Rates module, and my impression is that the zones are by country. I'm confused about this. The default zones seem to be broken up into US states, but then the zones rates module (by default) only works for country zones, not state ones. Is my understanding correct? If so, what are the state zones used for, other than taxes?

I'm not sure on the zone situation. I'm sure that you can define custom zones and use another shipping module. The good thing about zencart is that you can have multiple shipping modules enabled at once. So you can have an option for local shipping that is only available in a particular zone. For the other zones you would have defined prices. You should be able to find a mix of modules to get the desired result. There would be a lot involved in making a single module do everything that you want it to.

If you check the forums on the zone configuration I'm sure you will find some answers. I haven't had to go there yet as I only have local deliveries at this stage to worry about.

Hi,
Great module but how do i change the text that is in the shipping part of checkout?
It currently has
MODULE_SHIPPING_DRMDELIVERY_TEXT_TITLE
MODULE_SHIPPING_DRMDELIVERY_TEXT_WAY
I have tried changing a few things but it is way above me and my limits at the moment.
If i have missed it elsewhere i apologise,

I hate to bump an old topic but I am having the same issues as spanked. I've looked around the files and messed with them abit with no luck to try to change the way it displays.

Any ideas?

Hey all,

Had the same problem, I know this an old post but hopefully this could be of use to someone. You need the change the drmdelivery.php file located in includes/languages/english/modules/shipping.

Change MONDAYAM to DRMDELIVERY for all 3 lines, and then update 'DRM Delivery' at the end of line 1 with your own text (you can also change the text at the end of line 2 and 3 to your own):

define('MODULE_SHIPPING_MONDAYAM_TEXT_TITLE', 'DRM Delivery');
define('MODULE_SHIPPING_MONDAYAM_TEXT_DESCRIPTION', 'Local Delivery Limited by Postcode & Number of Deliveries');
