How can this be set up ?

I am so confused and hope someone can help.

I am trying to add a $6.00 per product handling charge on a product priced by attributes. When I add it under one time it works, but I need it per item, not one time, so when I try to use the Price Factor Offset no matter what I put in those boxes it doesn't modify the price.

The product price is $34.95 and the handling charge is $6.00 or 17% if it needs to be a percent. I've tried entering all kinds of variations into those price factor and offset boxes and no matter what I put in, it doesnt' seem to see them.

Am I missing something on how to make this work?

This sounds like you need some shipping charge on a per item basis ...

Could you explain more about what you are really trying to do here?

Attributes usually are used for things like: Color, Size, etc.

But you are trying to use them for Shipping ...

What is it you need the Shipping to do that you are looking at Attributes vs Shipping Modules?

I've got a pickle of a situation. After I created the store and everything my client said they need a $6.00 per item handling fee on products priced $34.95 and a $10.00 handling fee on those priced at $139.95. There really are only these two product price points but in multiple variations (it's a type of paint and this is the 1 gallon vs. 5 gallon sizes).

So my dilemma is that they are using only USPS shipping module for shipping calculation and with a walk-in (store pickup option). The problem is the handling fee only applies to shipped items and needs to apply to EACH, not per order.

So doing the Tare thing doesn't seem to work, and adding the handling fee into the product base price doesn't work either for walk-ins.

So I really don't know what to do and if you have any suggestions I'd be very grateful!

This could be customized ... but it would take some work to do it to figure out how many of each product price group you have ...

A faster coding method is to add a new field to manage this ... so that you can test how many products with a given field setting are in the cart ... then build the handling charge based on that and add it to the quote from USPS ...

This still requires coding but it is more flexible ...
