Good news it's not you ...

Bad news ... moving this to the Bug Reports to remind me to figure out what to do on orders that use 100% Discount Coupons and go to $0.00

Thought we had that fixed a long time ago ...

This is the same issue I am having! I thought it was related to the FEC mod but now I am not so sure because freecharger does work with GC only but not with ANY discount that brings the total to $0.00

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering. I have inherited management of another store....

1. on my own store I do not have this mod activated yet when I choose in the product listing to have it free and then go thru the rest of the process to get the product listed... the customers can then add it to their cart and it allows for delivery with no problems

2. the new store has this item activated...with the options in 1.3.8a to choose it to be free do we need this module activated?

When I enable the Zencart Free Charge module (I changed name to No Payment) I get a drop down with Visa and Mastercard in it . How do I remove these, or at least remove one and change the name of the other to something like "none"? I disabled Visa and Mastercard in the Configuration -> Credit Cards but they still show.

Edit: Hang on... I have a custom payment module for when there is a charge that just used Visa and Mastercard. I bet its linked to that, am looking into it.

No, when I disable my custom payment method it still shows Visa and Mastercard.

Edit: Ah, its OK... I have a Worldpay module installed that inserts this in the template file, tpl_checkout_payment_default.php. I needed to amend that file to only show it for that module.

Actually, I do have an issue with this Zencart Free Charge Card... when I go through the checkout process, hitting Contine on Step 3 (which should complete the order) takes me back to Step 2 with no order placed. Any ideas?

The only purpose of the The Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD freecharger is to allow checkout to work when there is no charge on the Products and no shipping making a $0.00 order ...

Have you an URL where you are having problems and could you tell us what Product(s) you are testing with?

Are you trying to allow the checkout with a balance due that you are going to collect offline? If so you could rename either the COD or Check/Money order modules.

Yes its a totally free £0 charge... no payment for product or shipping is due. The product is here, but I have made it temporarily available due to not being able to checkout so would be great if you could have a look soon.

Note: I just noticed when I disabled my custom payment method used for items that do cost, it works! So it looks like my custom payment method is interfering with this one, even though its not showing on the page. My custom one was based on the Worldpay module.

First turn off the SEO/rewrites and see if that fixes the problem ...

Try the checkout and see if it works ...

Then, switch to the Classic Template to see if it is your template ...

I feel a bit of an idiot now... I found the issue in my tpl_header.php file. The problem manifested ages ago when I built the site... when I built my custom payment module I just not could keep the chosen payment option through checkout, it went back to step 2. I therefore hard coded the session payment variable in the tpl_header.php file as a workaround as they only had this one payment method. This was ages ago and I completely forgot . So when I turned on this new payment method it kept choosing the custom one I added as I hard coded the session for it, and that must have caused the issue. Strangely I removed my session code and the old payment method works now anyway .

So thanks again for your help, I dont think I would have ever found it otherwise! You must be sick of people messing up their template files and blaming Zencart
