    Default site emails being blocked

Not too sure which was the right category to post this, however wondering if any one else is getting this issue and any clues on how to solve.

I am getting a lot of emails saying that my order confirmation emails or status update emails, generated by zencart, are undeliverable.

Now unless all my customers for some reason are giving false email addresses this seem odd.

Closer investigation turns out they are 90% aol email addresses.

Is there any reason why the email generated automatically by the site would be filtered out / highlighted or stopped by AOL.

I cannot believe I have been black listed as spam - but may be I have.

I wondered if it was to do with the way zencart generates the email.

Aol apparently use port 587 for email, how can I do anything about that when port 25 seems to be used by most others

    Any hints to this welcome.

    Many thanks

    MG

I ran across this same thing yesterday and finally ended up sending the e-mail from my personal e-mail account and everything went through just fine.

I'd also be interested in learning how to get around this.

Have never used AOL - but I think they can add addresses to their "okay list" - you may have to post a notice to your AOL users to do that.

I had the same problem about 9 months ago with AOL. After working with AOL and my hosting company, it has nothing to do with the way Zencart is sending out the order confirmation. A website, that was on the same server our website, was sending out spam emails. So my hosting company shut down the website, and informed AOL of the solution. They removed us from the 'Black List', and now our order confirmation emails are not coming back to us.

If you contact AOL, and give them your hosting company name, IP address, they can tell you if your IP address or Hosting Company has been 'Black Listed'.

Well this is my problem of the day.
I have read too much this morning and have fallen behind with my work!!!!

I did come across this thread:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...ight=aol+email

Since I originally started this post, I wanted to let everyone know that I finally figured out what the problem was. It actually has nothing to do with ZenCart or the unroutable domains I was sending mail to. It has to do with cPanel configuration.

In cPanel, when you log in as the root user, there is an area entitled "Tweak Settings." Within this area, there is a section for tweaking email settings. Well, there was one particular checkbox that was checked which basically said, "Use the 'nobody' account when sending system emails."

That was why all my mail was coming from nobody AT server1 DOT mjmmagic DOT com, and this is also why 99% of the ISP's were rejecting it. Apparantly, receiving mail from "nobody" is automatically blocked. So all I did was uncheck this option so that mail would NOT come from the nobody account, and now everything is working fine.
    Might be of some help.
    Not to meeeeee!!
I can't find the "Tweak Settings." anywhere!!!!!!

But hope that might be of some help.

    cheers
