Default Basic Checklist or Custom Template - Do what first?

    Hello,

My basic install is done. There is a Basic Checklist that talks about administrative functions. Then there is a section which talks about setting up a custom template. Which should be done first? If I do the administrative function first before defining my custom template will have to redo things later?

    Thanks

Shouldn't have to redo things later.

Generally, you'll end up doing many things in tandem. You can always tweak things if something's not meeting your needs as you originally expected.

If you are attempting to determine if Zen Cart can "functionally" do certain things for you, but you can OVERLOOK the visual appearance for now, and simply test creating products the way you want them, etc, then you should start with the administrative stuff first.

Once you're sure it's going to do what you want, then you can work on the visual side of things to have the look/feel suitable for your customers.

But, many people get hung up on making it "look" right before they set up the infrastructure, and then get flustered in the process. It's up to you ... either approach works, and you'll be fine-tuning as you go along either way.

Great! I'm going to opt for "function first!" Thanks.

A great tool that is not advertised nearly enough specifically for this purpose is the demo cart with many products and set to many variations of attributes etc.

I think that it is as easy as using the SQL file that comes with the install files to activate this product set.

You will find explanations in place of the product descriptions as to what has been set & for what reason on many products
