    Default Aust shipping rates

I am trying to use a parcel post chart for my shipping - this is not the same as the normal Australia Post parcel rates - it is a special one. I'm trying to set up the shipping zones within Australia only - there are 14 zones. I'm not sending outside Australia. Then the prices depend on quantity - bottles in fact. The cost changes depending on 1, 2, 3 or 4-12 bottles. I thought I was in the right spot but then I found that ZenCart expected either weight or price. But I want quantity!

So what should I do? I noticed others were talking about an AustPost module - will this do what I need or do I need to set this up differently?

    Hi Jill

You can charge shipping per item in zencart - you will need to go to your admin/modules/shipping and choose per item. There you will be able to apply a cost for shipping on a per item basis.

Hope that this helps and good luck!

No, that doesn't help at all. The shipping cost varies according to the zone (14 zones) and the number of bottles of wine. It is not simply a case of multiplying the shipping cost by the quantity. The following chart is what I'm working on:

    Zone 4-12 bottles 3 bottles 2 bottles 1 bottle
    W1 $6.75 $6.10 $5.65 $5.45
    W3 $11.00 $8.10 $7.10 $6.20

    etc.

There is also a one-off handing charge of $5.

I want to be able to set up these 14 zones and then the customer get charged the appropriate shipping costs. But I don't seem to be able to find the right order in which to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hi Jill

I know how you can set up your zones for this, but I am still working on how you would incororate it into your shipping methods.

To set up zones go to

    admin > locations/taxes > zones

down the bottom you will see a button "new zone" Click this!

    Enter in the data

    Zones Name
    Zones Code

and then select the country you want to associate this data with.

Do this for each of the 14 zones that you want.

Now incorporating this into a shipping module I am still looking at as mentioned above and it may not even be possible, not sure?

Maybe someone else out there may be able to help with this. Any takers????

I will post if I am able to work this out for you.

yeah, thanks. I'd got that far already. Problem is then that having set up the zones, how do I get the customer to indicate which zone they are in? Can I put an extra item in the customer details list?

Also, I noticed that in the shop location asked for postcode. Don't know if this will make any difference.

    Hi,

I too need the option of different Zones in Australia, as freight up&down the eastern seaboard is pretty much the same, but from East to West, it jumps dramatically. So I want to be able to define the Zone, but as above, how do we get the customer to indicate the Zone they are in..?
