Email problem

I can't seem to send any HTML content in any form of email through the cart. This applies to send email, newsletters and welcome emails. I just recently took over the site and can't seem to figure out why this is happening.

I have setup 3 test accounts and none of them are recieving the html content. I have checked all options and don't see anything related to sending html content. Am I missing something? Have some files been edited that I am not aware of?

Please help as I want to get a monthly newsletter rolling as we have 200+ customers signed up for it.

I should have noted that I already checked that and it is set correctly. I've since resorted to exporting the addresses and am using an external mailer to send the newsletter.

I don't like this option but it is all I have right now. I prefer to use the internal mailer so that users who choose non-html.

Any other suggestions?

I have this option set to true and it sends both plain text and html depending on what the customer has selected when they register. It also gives you a choice of either when you send e-mails from the admin.

4. what email "transport" method have you selected?
5. what version of apache/IIS is on your host?
6. what version of Linux/Unix/Windows is on your host?
7. what email clients are you using to receive these test emails?

I'm not clear as to whether you're getting NO email, or just seeing TEXT-only content.

If you look at the raw email content, are the HTML headers there, but simply malformed and thus the client doesn't display the HTML content? Can you post the raw email content including all headers ? (you can mask the actual email addresses if you prefer, but nothing else)

One of the reasons for implementing phpMailer in v1.3.x was to overcome many of the problems in the email classes used in v1.2.x and earlier. Some of these were HTML-related, others were SMTP-related, etc.

There's an old phpMailer contribution for Zen Cart v1.2.x in the archived downloads area if you wish to try it.



The typical reason for not receiving HTML content is that the "Use MIME HTML" switch is off, or the customer's preferences are set to TEXT instead of HTML in their My Account area.

If the functions/functions_email.php file has been edited to not send HTML messages, then whoever ran your site before you must have had a reason for disabling it.... were they a member of the forums here?
