I noticed that on my Product listing pages the name of the category appears just above the image. How can I get rid of that? The breadcrumbs are already showing the path or navigation and the category name does not need to be there.

Admin > Configuration > Porduct Info > "Previous Next - Navigation Includes Category" set to off.
