Switching the way my product listing looks

ok, i made a thread a bit ago on how i could accomplish changing my product listings from this:

to this:

and someone said that i could do that another way by taking code from featured products, and sticking it in my product listings. i have tried this once, but failed, and screwed a few things up. i have refixed my store back to how it previously looked, and wanted to know if someone could give me detailed instructions on how to do this...its very important for the look of my site.

yeah, i tried that the last time and i ended up with a blank product listings page, how would i fix that?

This mod works very well if installed correctly. And the instructions and alll files are all contained in the mod.

So I guess the answer is to carefully follow the instructions provided to have this be successful.

Many have installed this successfully so I do not think that there is a bug in the files with the mod.

ok, just one question on uploading this, it says i need to change i file thats in includes/modules/template_default/ ... but, when i go to includes/modules the only template thing i have is CLASSIC, and when i go into that folder, it doesnt have the file that needs to be modified, so what do i do? add a new folder or what (btw.. there is a file in includes/modules that is the same name, but i do not want to try that one until after i know what i can possibly do)

This is not exactly what you stated the instructions stated.

It refers to a folder named 'YOUR_TEMPLATE' and this can be most any name but then also must be associated with a template that you have established and activated in the admin.

If you have created an override folder in modules named template_default this will not work as you cannot select template_default as a template in the admin.

(2) The template overrides just one file in the system - the file modified is
ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/tpl_modules_product_listing.php

You might be best off reading the wiki and FAQ's on the overrides system and creating your own template before forging ahead only to be frustrated that what you are changing is not working....

well.. i have the classic template installed right now.. but there is no classic in the module folder? or am i just totally confused on what your talking about?

OK now I am completely confused. You first stated:

It can not be both...there is supposed to be a folder named 'classic' in the /includes/modules folder. If you do not now have one you have somehow either erased it or have a corrupt upload of the fileset.

Again, you should check/search here for the term template_default and read why one should base their install on this over the 'classic' combined template. Then follow what I had previously posted about creating a template fileset and using the override system. If after you have digested this information you still have problems please post back with the specifics of what they are

okay. i will figure this out.. i guess i confused myself in this whole process. i will look at the information you have provided, and give you the results of my next attempt at this.
