adding features to products

I'm building a site that sells coffee and the client wants to add a pull-down menu for each product for the customer to select either whole bean or a certain type of grind. I don't want to create a separate product for each, but rather have it as a feature for the product. How can I add this?

Option Names Manager ...

Option Name: Grind
Option Type: Dropdown

Option Values Manager ...
Option Name: Grind

Option Value Name:
Select your grind (or something like that) Sort Order 0

Option Value Name:
Whole bean Sort Order 10

Option Value Name:
Grind whoever1 Sort Order 20

Option Value Name:
Grind whoever2 Sort Order 30


Attributes Controller ...

Find the Product ...

Build each Attribute:
Option Name: Grind
Option Value: Select your grind
Insert

Option Name: Grind
Option Value: Whole bean
Insert

Option Name: Grind
Option Value: Grind whoever1
Insert

etc.

Click on Update Sort button at the top of the screen ...

is there any way to add a sort order to the attributes themselves? my size attributes are going alphabetically. however, i have adjusted the "default order" of the attributes as if it was the sort order. plz and thx.

That is what the Order: is for in the Option Values Manager and the Order in the Attributes Controller ...

If you utilize the Option Values Manager with the default sort order ... after adding Attributes to a Product you can click the Update Sort button at the top of the page ...

This will then update the Sort Order of the Option Values for all Attributes of the Product ...

You can manually set the Sort Order, but usually the site looks better if you make it uniform and have a default sort order for all Option Values ...

To organize your Attributes ... there is the Option Name Sorter and the Option Value Sorter ...

Note: it is always a good idea to backup your database before using things you know nothing about ...
