Default Define Pages Editor or Override Directory?

    Hello,

I understand the override system. I'm done customizing my store via the CSS and the Admin and also have a custom template set up. I'm getting ready to change verbage to my store pages. On the store pages it references Define Page Editor. Elsewhere in the forum it talks about saving to your override directory. Which is it? Do you make changes to duplicate copies in your override directory. Where does the Define Pages Editor come in? Is it even necessary to use this editor if you are advised to save things to your override directory?

    Thanks!

I understand the override system. then...Which is it?
If you fully understand the override system then you know that in every folder where a 'classic' folder exists, that the files there can be overridden by creating a folder named as your template name at that same location. This means that there are several override folders in their respective locations.
Elsewhere in the forum it talks about saving to your override directory. Which is it? Do you make changes to duplicate copies in your override directory. Where does the Define Pages Editor come in?
If you create a folder named for your template at: includes/language/english/html_includes/your_template_name and copy the contents of the html_includes to it you will have an override folder for these files. Now the Define Pages Editor will by default load these files for editing and that is where this editor comes in.
Is it even necessary to use this editor
Alternatively, you can edit these files with a text editor(not a word processor) and upload them to your override folder. You must follow html rules if you want any styling applied. This makes using the html editor in the admin easier for most.

Hope that this was clear enough

Hello and thank you for responding!

I ended up modifying everything using the editor. I noted that the changes that I typed in the Editor were reflected in the corresponding PHP file. I plan to copy these modified files to my Override Directory.
