Default configure.php file error on Windows NT server

Hi, just fresh installed a zen cart v1.3.0.2 sucessfully, but the error message "Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: D:\\webs\\jessicasjewellery.co.uk\\html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444 are typical)." appear. I contact the host and they had disable this file and also prove they had doen so indeed. the host said "I am not sure how the shopping cart determines file permissions. If it uses php function to check file permissions, the warning will always appear because the function is not compatible with Windows NT file system."

now the error message is staying on 1st page of zen cart site, it won't go away.

does any one know how to fix it?

thank you very much in advance!

Your hosts are talking nonsense. If the file permission is set correctly then the error message will go away. You should be able to set the permission yourself (even on a Windows server) via your Web Hosting Control Panel - which should have a feature called File Manager which you can use to set file permissions. Try 644 to start and if that doesn't work then try 444 or 400.

Hosting any dynamic php based site on a Windows server wouldn't be my first choice. I have used them in the past, and have to use them sometimes when I do custom work for people hosting their sites on them - but Apache with a Unix or Linux operating system would always be my first choice for PHP based sites.

My experience of Easy Space is with people leaving them - and that can cause problems. Unless they have changed their policies they are one of the few firms that charge for things like DNS repointing and IPS Tag changes (IPS Tags are for .uk domains only).

In your hosting controls, do you have anything that allows you to set file permissions?

While running on Windows NT with IIS, you need set the file as "Read-Only" for "Everyone" and the IUSR_xxxxx (Internet Guest Account) user.

I've just ported my site away from LINUX onto Windows 2003 server. I had the same problem, even though I made sure the file permissions were read-only.

I fixed it by setting the "files" to read-only in Windows Explorer not by using windows security.

    OFF topic

for Windows 2003 server its a better Idea to use Apache2triadCP it has all u need.

First u have to stop IIS or all web ftp and pop smtp for windows if u gonna use all of them install apache and everything will be better.
for mail use hmailserver for mail, for ftp server u can use Bullet FTP server.

If u have problems with configuration contact me via ICQ

Definitely 'Off Topic' as the poster is on an online Windows server, which is more than likely a shared server. So they won't have the option of changing it to Apache.

If they were using an offline server then XAMPP is much better then Apache Triad anyway.
