Number of new and specials displayed on homepage

Hi all,

Great stuff this ZenCart. I've successfully installed 1.3.01, bought a very nice template from Zenwebs, installed the Dual Pricing mod I found here (also great stuff!) and today upgraded the cart to 1.3.0.2
Everything has gone well.

I have been up and down every single admin menu in order to begin configuring the cart and mostly I've got it sorted out, but this one has me stuck:

How do I change the number of new and/or special products displayed on the homepage and elsewhere?

I can see that for featured products I can just disable them until I have the desired number (three), but how do I do something similar for the other types?

I basically don't want nine of each over three rows... I'd rather have three in one row.

Any pointers are appreciated

Go to Admin > Configuration > Maximum Values

and change "Maximum Display of Featured Products - Main Page", "Maximum Display of Specials Products - Main Page" and (slightly confusingly) "New Products Module"
