Newsletter mass mail alternative?

I like to send out newsletters to customers, but there are almost 2000 newsletter subscribers on my list; my host prefers I not send 2000 emails coincidentally, and I can't say I blame them. Does anyone have experience with large group mailings (that your host doesn't mind and I might want to look for a different host, or that you have an alternate solution to your problem)?

You get beyond a couple hundred on a mass mailing and you really should be using a Mailing service ...

You are looking for trouble and lack of abilities trying to do that with an e-commerce program on a regular server ...

When you manage to get your hosting site's server banned for spamm you are really going to be up poo-poo creek ...

Even proper emails hit the spamm lists from time to time ... don't get your hosting site's server shut off ... you will not be a happy camper ...

I forget who DrByte recommended on this ... but there are several good companies around for mass mailings ...

No no, the server didn't get hit for spam, they just believed that my account was being used for spam so they locked off my account.

Unfortunately you can't regulate the rate or frequency at which mail is sent out by shopping carts. What you may want to do is to install an additional piece of software like phpLists. It's a bit clunky to use, but it does allow you to stagger any mail-outs e.g. set it to send 10 emails, stop for 30 seconds, then send 10 more. This is perfectly acceptable to most hosts. You can add a link to it on your homepage and get people to subscribe to your Newsletter in that way.
