    Default host doesn't support ssl

    hi,

I am creating a website for a friend. They already had a site host but I have discovered that they won't do SSL as said in http://www.virtualnames.co.uk/faq.php3?id=169

I'm fine for gathering card details because we will use PayPal but what about the customer billing details? Is it necessary for this to be gathered using SSL? If so, what should I do? Can you get a separate dedicated SSL host?

While not necessary I and many others will just put their credit cards away and click to another site....I never enter sensitive information on a non secure environment.

I would tell your freind to try to get their money back as any good host provider can and will allow SSL Certs

I am not 100% Certain but this is a very educated guess,
They dont allow SSL because they are running a virtual service,
meaning that they rent a single HD on some one elses server and only have 1 IP address to cover all of their hosting,

best advice run dont walk from this kind of setup,
Here is a list to look at
