Template Rotator Mod

Hey all don't know how hard this would be.. i have it in CGI but i would like to make a mod for zin in PHP what it would do is this i would make like a few diff templates for my site like one for Christmas one for halloween and one for Easter and so on and it would flip to that template at a certain time of year for a certain time of days that would be allotted in the admin area.... anyone interested in helping would be GREAT beings i don't know how to code.. but i can debug and Alter the code to tweak it.. some help would be great.. like i said i have it for CGI but i don't have it for PHP..

Any Suggestions would be great.....

Changing template is not that hard, you can just go to admin and change it, so I don't see the reason to do that.
Why? Because as you say you will change the template for special occasions, lets say there are 10/year. Now, to achieve this you need to use Cron job for sure, and have your server runs it at least once per day.
1 more thing: before changing template, you have to make sure that one works well (lets say you upgraded to new version recently and have not had time to upgrade all templates yet, what will happen if the site automatically change to those templates? Crash)

Ok part one the reason is you have same layout just diff images... for like christmass and holloween and so on... so you dont have to goto the admin area and change it.. it will change the images itself.. for each hollady.. so acually it will be a Full site teplate image rotator that can be maintained in the admin area.. how would someone go about doing this? hope not too hard

you just create complete new templates for each holiday or season,
the same way that you created the original,
then just flip the switch in
admin -> tools -> template manager

Yes i can just do that but i am trrying to make it a fully automated procesess... that way i dont have to use the template mod.. it will rotate.. the images for me..

Unless you hire someone to do this, I dont see anyone would be interested in such module to actually code it.
This is a waste of time and system resources.

I can't see it being much of a problem to set up a cron job to run every night at midnight (or thereabouts) and swap the template as dictated by a calendar file of some sort.

OTOH, I can't see it being much of a problem to set an alarm and log on for a few seconds to change it either.

For me this would be such a low priority as to be unlikely to ever happen.

An even better mod - maybe it already exists - would be a user selectable template mod. Users who need a high contrast screen could choose it, or users with a talking browser could select an extra-simple template that doesn't waffle on through a list of over 1000 authors ...

GSIS, that mod is great for a forum, but I dont think any ecommerce site ever used it. Maybe in the near future, who knows.
