Help Me With Shipping!!

Hi,
I am going to be dropshipping my products from different vendors and will have different shipping rules for products. I have some that will flat rate ship for $6 and others that will ship based on the companies costs. How do i set different shipping costs throughout my site with different products. I only see one set way of shipping, not choices when you are listing an item. Please help, not sure what to do??

There are two ways that spring to mind. An easy way, and a hard way. The hard way, but neither is perfect.

1 - Set up an attribute for each product which is shipping cost. So for each item you will have price - $5, shipping $1. Using this method, every product can have a different shipping rate if you wish. The problem comes when your customer orders 2 different products, from the same supplier, and gets charged shipping twice, when there may be an additional shipping cost incurred, but it wouldn't be that much.

2 - Set up a custom shipping module, with shipping rates per supplier. You can then select that supplier 1 charges $5 for each item, and supplier 2 charges $5.50 per item. You can then code in that it adds all of these together, and gets a total, with or without a by product breakdown. THis method is not easy, and will take a fair amount of coding.

Those are just two methods I can think of straight away, but I'm sure there are others.

Thank your for those 2 ideas but here is my problem...one of my suppliers charges $6 total for as many items as you want from 1-??? so if they buy let's say 10 soaps, they still only pay $6, so I wouldn't be adding shipping charge to each item or they would be paying $60 for shipping. What I would like to do is somehow put in flat rate shipping in the module for $6 for just that supplier but as I add items from another supplier that won't work. This other supplier charges based on how much you spend on a table that they created. I don't even see an option for that?? I am concerned that I won't be able to find a way to work this...

The problem you mention is exactly the problem I said about with method 1. You need to code solution 2, which is going to take a fair amount of work on your part. You will need to set up shipping rates for each supplier, and then calculate the shippng depndant on the cart contants

If using Attributes for your shipping ...

You have the Attributes Price ... you also have 1 time charges ...

An Attribute Price is a charge per item ordered ...

A One time charge is a one time cost regardless of how many are ordered ...
