    Default Google Refusing to index

    Hello,

Google for some reason will not list my website to their index and I don't know why. I have been waiting for well over 3 months now for them to index it.

The homepage has a nice pagerank of 5 and has many, many good quality inbound links. The homepage is listed along with about 20 other pages and the homepage itself has started to show signs of promise for very competitive keywords in Google, but it wont index the whole site.

This is confusing as I have tried all sorts, even switching to static urls lately. When I used dynamic urls it listed only 3 pages, but with static it listed 20-30. There should now be well over 2000 pages listed.

Please can someone help, my url is http://www.inkjet-cartridge-solution.../zen/index.php

    Thank you
    Terry

    Re: Google Refusing to index

    Anyone? :)

Also, I use an older version of Zen Cart which I didn't mention, will it be worth while upgrading to a newer version and how safe is it to do?

I use a template that is not compatible with the new version so I'm scared of upgrading incase it messes up my site. If I was to upgrade to a newer version, install a new template that is compatible with the latest release, will all of the categories and products all still be in place in the right positions?

Also, I used to have the site as pure html until I found this cart, then I installed it to a sub-directory and used a redirect from the old homepage to the new homepage via control panel.

    Thanks
    Terry

If you had page rank and indexing before,
with standard html pages, then google is starting to puke out the old links,
takes a while to get a complete re-index.
you need to point some of those html pages to your zen cart pages using 301 redirects

I went from a static site to using Zen Cart and google and other crawlers are crawling all over my site. Couple of things:

    • Make sure you have all your meta tags populated
    • Is there enough content (i.e. spider food) on your product pages?
    • I now use some former static pages and have them refer to the new corresponding pages as generated by zen cart

You can also download a free version of WebCEO to help optimize your pages. I'm an optimizing freak and have been known to scarfice many zzzz's while tweaking.
