Default Image name not writing to database

Up until yesterday I could type in a name of an image and click the No to overwrite manually question and everything would be fine. Today I cannot .

The name of the file is not being stored in the database.

My hosting company have sent back the following:

After some further investigate we've discovered that the problem is
being caused by update_product.php not correctly passing the value typed
into the form to the processing script. Instead it appears to pass the
value that the database field is currently set to -- so although the
script may then update the database, it is simply rewriting the value
    which is already set.

    /admin/includes/modules/update_product.php

they say that this file was uploaded recently / changed - but I have not done this and on doing a file comparison with the file in the Zencart zip file there is no difference.

I therefore cannot see what has change to cause this.

Still using version 1.2.7d (yes I am looking into upgrading but I am testing locally before going live) This is a live site which I cannot add images to.

    Hope some one can help.

    Thanks

First, get a fresh download of your version, unpack, and compare this new file to the current host file to double check that thee is no difference.

Document what you have done and if no difference, send these facts to your host stating what you have done and that their analysis must be flawed as this was working for?? months and now it is not. Be insistant but polite and that you have checked the things that you can but still no joy and see if they can find another cause.

Second before you do that check the current versioning for mySQL, Apache, php, . I am hoping that you know what it wsa before. Checking php see if they have upgraded to 5.0 from 4.xxx. I know that there were some issues with php 5.0
