"Add categories" button doesn't show up

Under categories/products. Is there a way to correct this or easily manually add about five or six categories? I really need to get these categories up!

If you see Products ... you cannot add Categories ...

If you see Categories ... you cannot add Products ...

Categories hold Products or Categories but not both at the same time ...

I figured I could put products into the top level and then have categories on that, so thanks for clarifying. This fixed everything, thanks so much!!

Inquiring about the quoted... what happens if you do? Does this cause a problem, or is just generally a bad idea?

I understand that the web interface doesn't allow you to do this, but I have done this (using EZ Populate) and want to know if this is causing or going to cause a problem. So far, no problem that I have noticed, but I guess it is counter-design.

Ajeh:

Do not mix Categories and Products in the same Category or you will have:

Searches that do not work right ...

Calculations, prices, etc. do not work right ...

Displays that do not work right ...
