Coupon Features Confusion Help Please...

I can set up a coupon, but am a little confused about what the difference is between "Uses per Coupon" and "Uses Per Customer."

For example, if I give a customer a $30 coupon to spend in my store, and they use it toward $20 worth of products, but want to use the rest of the coupon at a later time, how do I code the "Uses Per Coupon" and "Uses Per Customer" ?

Do I code "Uses for Coupon" unlimited and "Uses per customer" to 1 ?? I'm a little fuzzy on this and any help would be appreciated.

Coupons are not designed for partial use ...

If a Discount Coupon is allowed:
Uses per Coupon 1

then only 1 person will ever use the coupon

If set to blank, then the coupon can be used an unlimited number of times

If the Discount Coupon is allowed:
Uses per Customer 1

Then the customer may use the Discount Coupon once, and once only ... if set to 2 then they could use it twice ...

However, never is a Discount Coupon available for partial use on 1 order and partial use on another order ...

Just like in the grocery store, the Raqu coupon cannot be torn in half ...

That definitely helps. I guess I was getting it confused with a gift certificate. I think it will actually help me create a nice marketing piece for the coupon, too.
