Default Please explain Stylesheets. Not making sense.

Sorry if this has been asked loads which I think it has but I cannot find a definitive good explanation of this...

My basic problem is I cannot see where to change certain colours and things appearing on the site. They are not in the stylesheet.

Here's a rundown and my understanding and my issues...

When downloading Zencart there is the classic template chosen by default. Apparently though the stylesheets are for the old version of Zencart, and I read on this foruim somewhere to delete these and use stylesheet.css from default_template. So first question.. why is Zencart like this? If I download a new version I would have thought it best to have the default installed template (classic) compatable with that version and not an old one. Include classic for people who need to revert back but make this clear and not make it default install.

So I deleted the _new and _original stylesheets and replaced with stylesheet.css from default_template folder. The site completely changed and looked rubbish. So therefore this solution is not right.

So I also deleted all files from common and images folders in the classic template, assuming it should now load the files from default_template folder and use the stylesheet in classic folder shouldn't it? If so then the template still looked rubbish.

So I am now going through customising the stylesheet obtained from default_template and copied into classic template to make a nice site. But there are colours on the site that are not in the stylesheet.css file! There are classes not in there too such as "categories" and "categoriesHeading". The categories heading is this horibble pink colour that is no where to be found in the stylesheet. So where can I change this?

So basically the new version of Zencart seems to be even more complicated than the older ones to customise template due to confusing old stylesheets and colours sghowing on the site that are not in the stylesheets.

Can someone explain in detail how it all works so we can customise the sites easily?

My suggestion is the new version should ship with a template compatable with that version using one stylesheet, the design of which is the horrible default orange design for us to change.

    Thanks

    Laurie

    I found this link http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/faq.ph...late_customize

    This explains what to do.

I also DID find the horrible pink colour in the stylesheet so my mistake.

So I think I can get on with it now.

But I still think the "classic" inclusion by default confuses things and the above process should not be necessary.

    Cheers

Now I am over the initial hurdle of sorting stylesheets out I actually think the stylesheets and formatting is really good. I seem to be changing design quite quickly so thats great.
