Default Questions regarding mailed gift certificates

    Hello,

Previously I had set up gift certificates as products on my website per the instructions in the forum. I have not had anyone purchase a gift certificate yet, however, I need to issue a gift certificate. I selected mail gift certificate, filled in the info and the dollar amount and hit send mail. I did not get a duplicate copy of the email so I have no idea what was actually mailed out. I do see the gift certificate in Gift Certificates Sent. I also see a system generated certificate number. Will the customer just enter this number at the checkout screen? Will the system remember any unused amount if she does not redeem it all at once? I see nothing in the gift certificate queue yet however.

    Thanks!

To see what was sent, look in the Gift Certificates/Coupons ... Gift Certificates Sent ...

To recieve a copy of these emails ... go to the Configuration ... E-Mails ...

Set the email address ... and turn it on ...

Will zencart even let you not use all of the gift certificate? I guess it probably will. I was planning on sending out another gift certificate with the remaining balance if it wasn't all used, but I'd like to hear some other input on the issue myself.

Unused gift-certificate funds are maintained "on account", and are available until they are spent.
The customer has the option to use them on a purchase, or to email them as a new gift-certificate to someone else.

Best way to see it in action is to try it out.
