Default Using external email newsletter system

    Hello,

When a user signs up for an account (or manages their account), I'd like to disable the Zencart newsletter functionality, and instead use that Y/N checkbox to trigger an external subscribe/unsubscribe script.

Has anyone done this? Where would I start? I have the code snippet to pipe the data to the external system...I need to know what zencart files to change though.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi, has nobody tried this?

Curious at least where I can start...

    Thanks,

includes/modules/YOURTEMPLATE/create_account.php is used to process account-creation details.
includes/modules/pages/account_newsletter/header_php.php is used to edit newsletter preferences

Or you could use the newsletter-subscribe contribution ...

This is an old, old thread, but is exactly the question I have.

I use an email service, and have a pretty big mailing list. I want to keep this.

I'd like to just totally disable/hide the ZC mailing list, and put my own text/link in the main page body.

I've searched through the software add-ons, but don't see anything that I think will take care of it.

    Any help?

Ah-ha! A bit more searching and digging through the forums, and I found my answer.

so share, where did you find the information??? I would be interested in doing this. I had to right a php file that would search for newsletter Y then cut and paste data to my constant contact files.

Basically all I wanted to do was remove the Subscribe/Unsubscribe link from my home page, and not offer the newsletter subscription as part of the account setup.

    Here's what I've done:
    - Disable newsletter signup at account registration (Admin > Configuration > Show Newsletter Checkbox)

    - Removed the subscribe/unsubscribe link from the home page (Admin > E-Mail options > Display Newsletter Unsubscribe Link)

    - Created an EZ-Page to link to a page explaining my newsletters and providing the link to subscribe/unsubscribe

I just installed v1.3.8 and I want to disable the newsletter feature too because I use Constant Contact. I've been through every Admin configuration, but I can't find a way to turn off the Newsletter feature and remove it from my site map. Does anyone have any current info? My site is located at www.ravensdaughter.com/celtic.
    Thanks

See my solution two posts above yours - I would think this would work for you. It sounds like you are wanting to do the same thing I did.
