Showing Including & Excluding VAT

Hi,

I have read through the many posts on this subject but there does not seem to have been a successfull conclusion so far to any of them.

Does anyone know how to show pricing on products with anything similar to:-
"Price: £10.00 (£11.75 inc VAT)"
or achieve the same end in any other way?

Or perhaps - The command that allows you to toggle VAT on or off in the admin section - Could this be used externally by the customer from a button on each page? See www.screwfix.co.uk for an example.

If none of this is possible yet, could you tell me how to add text after the price:-
"£10.00 (prices excludes VAT at 17.5%)"

Any help in any of the above matters would be most appreciated.

Do you think it would be possible to use it to display the result of a formula that has calculated the VAT on an item rather than text? (programming noob here).

ive read two threads on this subject as i needed to show whether the price is including or excluding, or just have an option to switch.
then i came up with what i think is an INGENIUS solution that didnt involve php coding.

i created two new currencies, BPi (british pound including) and BPe (british pound excluding) and set including (the default) two 1.0000000000 and excluding to 0.85106385. then i set the "right value"'s to "&nbsp inc. VAT" and "&nbsp exc. VAT" and renamed the "Currencies" title of the currencies box to "Currencies and VAT".

i considered copying the who currencies sidebox and editing it to be a VAT one, but i took the easy lazy way out.

this completely does the job for me and hope it helps someone else

Does this show the breakdown of taxes properly on your customers' invoices and order-confirmation receipts, etc?

no, it needs custom invoices. im goin to do this by showing the price in the two currencies.

right now it looks like this:
Price (ex)##########____Price (inc)##########___Total (ex)##########___Total (inc)
£58.80 inc. VAT____£58.80 inc. VAT ___£58.80 inc. VAT____£58.80 inc. VAT

Sub-Total: £58.80 inc. VAT
Total: £58.80 inc. VAT

which as you can see is a bit confusing to the customer, but as far as im concerned our customers will either be business or personal customers and wont need to show the inc+exc prices (though i will change this hopefully - will update if it works)

Hi, I've now tried a couple of modifications to my site that add a price including VAT in brackets.

The problems I've had are:

1. Looks messy.
2. Doesn't work in all areas when you go throught the categories.
3. Doesn't work with attributes.
4. Doesn't work quantity break pricing.

I've therefore gone back to my original idea which is to find out how to enable any shopper to toggle VAT Price/Non VAT price themselves by selecting a button on the site.
This must be easier because the coding is already in place to let you do exactly the same in admin!

Anybody know where this code is and how to do it?
