Can this type of attribute setup be done?

Hello,

I have a client that would like the following:

*4 Different packages, each package has 12 products
*When packages are added to the cart, they will have a drop down menu to choose the flavors
*They can have up to four different flavors, but it always must add up to 12. So if they pick four flavors, they will receive 3 of each flavor.

So the process would go like this:

1. Add package to cart
2. Pick how many flavors you want
3. Depending on the number (1-4), an equal number of drop down boxes appear so each flavor can be picked.
4. All values would be passed on to the confirmation email / packing slip.


I presume I'll need to add some custom javascript, as well as a couple extra variables to pass on. Has anyone had experience doing something like this with their Zen Cart?

What you are describing is similar to stock by attributes and this functionality is not currently available in Zen Cart.

There might be a workaround but I am a bit confused by you post:

4 packages
4 flavors
4 packaging modes: all one; 6x6; 4x3; 3x4; or is this your 4 packages?

That's right - the packages are how many flavors you want, added up to 12.

So 1x12 , 2x6, 3x4, or 4x3.

If they pick 1 - then one drop box appears, if they pick 2, then two drop boxes appear, and so on.

That is a bummer if there isn't any way to do it in Zen Cart. Can you think of any workaround that might be just as effective?
