Default changed template now having probs

Evening all, ive downloaded a template from zencart and moved it to templates/new template. However, now i have done this i wish to change logo's, remove tagline etc and the header.php file that i was using to edit these things before no longer works. Im assuming the template should give me a new header.php file? or am i way off? how do i now go about changing logos etc?

    Many thanks

Your assumption is way off. Each template will have its own set of files, but a good template will only come with the files that it actually needs. If you want to change it you will need to add the files to do so. Files like header.php need to be defined as overrides for each template so that each can be different.

As to how you change the logo etc. that's no different for the second template as it would be for the first, so all the materials in the FAQ explaining how to do this will apply equally to your situation.

Re: changed template now having probs

ok, kinda struggling with this one. so there is a file on my site called header.php, but when i change it it doesnt apply changed to My_template, only Classic, so do i need to make a new header file and put it in My_template? or does my template not need one and i can edit it elsewhere? or is overriding required? Ive read the wiki and posts but not having much luck getting my head around it. Any help appreciated. The template ive downloaded and ftp'd is the red one from the downloads section if that helps?

    Many many many thanks

You're really pretty close. There is a file called header.php in the directory includes/languages/english/classic and changing that would have no effect because it only applies when the classic template is selected.

However, there is a second one in the directory includes/languages/english and if you changed that it would have an effect. But I don't recommend it.

What I recommend you do is create a new directory called includes/languages/english/New_Template and copy includes/languages/english/header.php into it. This is then your header.php override file for as long you have your New Template selected, and the one you should edit.
