Can I disable categories and products until available?

In the process of designing and building my shop I have added categories and products that will not be available for a while. Is there a way to keep the categories, products, images, attributes, etc...and just disable them until I have the products available?

I don't want to remove them from the categories list necessarily. I would like to have the category name followed by " (coming soon) " and have the link deactivated or also have this take you to a Coming Soon page.

Is this possible? I could not find a feature to do this.

I'm fairly new to the whole zencart thing, but as a thought could you not click on the 'Status' under Admin>Catalog>Categories/Products to achieve the result of temporary disabling the group.

Just a thought ;-)
