Default option to turn off customer login/accounts?

Hi, because of the risk of hackers and the fact that I don't have many repeat customers, I don't need or want to have the option for customer information to be stored in ZenCart. I realize that I could just delete the info, but this is time-consuming and also will create confusion for any customers that do come back. I think the creation of accounts may be harming my business. Is there any way I can turn the account creation off so that everyone is essentially a guest?

    Many thanks!

Hmm. No kidding. That's frustrating. Thanks for letting me know though.

I have a similar problem, we get customers who are students, and their addresses are often different from the address they want us to deliver to.

We warn them not to use their debit/credit card if it isn't registered to the delivery address - 4 times, but some of them still seem to think it doesn't apply to them.

Our Payment processing partner takes their address and passes it on to us anyway - so if they can't enter an address on our site we'd be quite happy, as frequent repeat customers create an account with Nochex anyway.

It would be great if we could turn off customer details completely, then there would be no arguments, we simply don't deliver outside a very local area.

I don't want to get into a big argument/heated-discussion on if I'm selling bags of poo or fine manure for roses. It's the simple fact that identity theft happens and getting these people to even enter their credit card online is a huge leap. The last thing they really want to do is create another account they think they have to manage (and NO, I'm not going to add a message that says "you don't have to manage this account").

Is there a module/add-on that will allow this to be overcome?

This feature is not currently available; however, on the Roadmap there are plans to look into the possibility of this during the "Checkout Rewrite" phase down the road a bit.

Hmm... maybe I'm misreading the tone of that statement, but it doesn't exactly sound like a priority... Because of this feature which puts my customers through unneccessary hassle and risk, the only thing keeping me at zencart is the fact that it is already seamlessly integrated into my webstore. Ideally, for maximum security and simplicity, a customer at a web retail store like mine should only have to enter personal information in order to have their order shipped and processed. This information should never be saved, they should never have to create a password or login name. I would never have chosen zen cart initially if I had realized this was not a customizable option. I find it incredible that on a cart which generally has a high level of customization this sort of thing would still be in the 'down the road a bit' phase.

You can always write the code your self and contribute it ...

However based on the number of things you will break this may not be the best idea ...

And no, it is not a high priority ...

You can always use a paypal site for now ... granted there are no features to really make that worth while but no one has to login for it ...
