Help...!!!

I'm going mad...!!!

OK I'm sure it's only because I'm thick. All want to do is insert graphic buttons into my main page area. I've gone through the posts (for days) and tried lots of different ways to do this. I finally made such a mess i Had to start afresh (surprised how much I've learnt) but now I'm stuck again.

Not bothered about rollovers or drop down menus i just want some simple jpeg buttons just below the shop logo. I can get them in as text through the control panel but they don't look that professional

I would like to insert them were the Home text button is in the white main body of the page or in the grey line above.

Please help i really am going mad!!!
