    Default Re: Implementing Purolator Shipping Module

    That's actually what I'm working on now.

    I'm caught up trying to get some other functionalities finished for a demo I have to present this week.

    The only thing holding me back right now is whether or not I should integrate it in to the purolator module itself or try to throw an exception in the shipping form.

    I pretty much just want to call the form again if the postal code does not match the province. It's an extra conditional statement, just don't know where would be best place to call it.

    any suggestions?

    Alright,

    It's been a while but I finally was able to get back to fixing up this module. I decided to not go ahead and tighten the fields by making sure postal codes had to be matched with the province. Instead I decided to clear up all the sql errors and make it more user friendly. A simple else condition was added to make sure the entire calculation would not be performed (result remains zero) as long as country or postal code was left blank.

    So yeah....as of now things are working very well with this module. Let me know if you find any other errors. I removed the previous releases just to make sure no one uses those anymore.

    enjoy and thanks for showing your interest.

    Alright,

    I found another problem. The algorithm works with upper case postal codes only so I simply added an strtoupper function when grabbing the postal code (in case someone writes their postal code in lower case letters).

    All fixed..

    Enjoy.

    Sorry, I was thinking if there is an order in zen-cart, How can I get the order onto a purolator waybill withour having to retype the data into a order entry system. SO I was asking if you knew of a way to do that data transfer?

    Thanks
    Chris

    PS Good work, I can evaluate dumping UPS for purolator in Canada.

    Hey,

    Thanks :) appreciate it.

    If I understand correctly you pretty much want to take all the shipping information you calculate and put it on an official purolator way bill?

    I lucked out at my company because my prices match exactly what is on the shipping managers computer so the waybill will always be the same. So I never had to implement an interface between my script designed on zencart and the waybill. They pretty much get the product scan it in and their system takes care of the rest.

    However, I don't think it would be that hard......Use the variables that store all the outputs for the shipping information and use those to store them in some kind of file that can be easily read and transferred on to your waybill. I am not sure how open your waybill software is to extract external data.

    I'm not sure if I answered your question properly, if you have any more questions don't hestitate to ask, you can pm me if you want as well.

    cheers,

    wajdi.

    Another update.

    Sorry I keep doing this, but I found a small problem in the shipping_rates table. I am removing the attachment and you will now find a new one with the proper database fix.

    For those who have it installed already all you have to do is modify the following entry in the shipping_rates.sql table

    INSERT INTO `shipping_rates` VALUES (31, 'MARU', 10.58, 0.28, 0.28, 0.28, 0.29, 0.29, 0.29);

    change it to:

    INSERT INTO `shipping_rates` VALUES (31, 'MAR', 10.58, 0.28, 0.28, 0.28, 0.29, 0.29, 0.29);

    Pretty much changing MARU to MAR. Without this change all purchases in Prince Edward Island will have free shipping. I just noticed this when a customer purchased something from PEI and the shipping charge was 0$.....

    and remember....the rates in the shipping_rates.sql file are set to my stores contract with purolator. You will have to change them accordingly.

    Thank you,

    Wajdi

    Certain requirements had to change for the module.

    In the process I will make my code look more presentable and remove all the crazy debugging comments.

    Once ready I will post it with all the modules.

    Thanks for your interest.
