can i make zen do this?

I just installed zen cart and configured my basic setup for the store name, categories etc. I was wondering if i can get zencart to display sorta like how http://www.allaboutcomics.com/index.htm is i know its not zencart just was looking to have a site not so ecommerce/oscommerce like in layout.

Many custom layouts are attainable with varying amounts of custom coding depending on what you want displayed differently.

Is the linked site yours? I would not recommend the frame approach but that is a preference. Not sure of what you consider as "too e-commerce looking".

no thats not my site i just kinda liked it. and what i was calling to ecommerce is the basic/default zencart theme

That's the beauty of the new template system. Since it is not table-based, you can make it look any way you want. Use template_default as your starting point and search the forum for override system to get some advice in that area. Take a look at the wiki for customization, etc.
